Ruaa was involved in a car accident about five months ago, which led to physical injuries to her limbs and head, as well as psychological trauma characterized by sadness, frequent crying, and social withdrawal. The eight-year-old girl is suffering both mentally and physically and lives with her family in the town of Basouta in the Afrin district. After consulting with the Civil Defense, the child was referred to the Sawsia Center for Prosthetics and Rehabilitation for further evaluation and treatment. At the center, the child was assessed by a specialist, and a comprehensive treatment plan was developed, including psychological support sessions and physical therapy. The center’s staff has made every effort to help Ruaa return to her normal life as she was before
The Physical Therapy and Psychological Support Journey for Child Ruaa
Physical therapy sessions began, focusing on strengthening the trunk muscles and lower limbs, as well as the left upper limb. Ruaa also started psychological support sessions that included movement games and recreational activities to help her regain self-confidence, as she had been in a very poor psychological state along with her family. Specialized skill sessions were conducted for her mother to better manage the child’s needs and listen to all her desires.
After completing the therapy and support sessions, Ruaa’s physical and psychological health significantly improved. She is now able to move and stand like other children. The joy of her family upon witnessing Ruaa’s remarkable recovery was almost indescribable, and the family expressed their gratitude to the center’s staff
