Zakat Program
A Syria where every individual has access to basic needs, education, safety, and opportunities to thrive — a Syria rebuilt on hope, justice, and dignity for all.
Purify Your Wealth, Uplift Lives
Zekat (Zakat) is more than just a pillar of Islam — it is a powerful tool for compassion, justice, and social transformation.
At Swasia Foundation, we ensure that your Zekat reaches those who need it most: orphans, widows, the displaced, and the poor in Syria — people who have lost everything due to war, disaster, and poverty.
When you give your Zekat through us, you are not only fulfilling a sacred obligation — you are restoring hope and changing lives.
Zakat-ul-Fitr:
Zakat al-Fitr is an important form of charity in Islam that is given at the end of Ramadan to help those in need celebrate Eid al-Fitr with dignity and joy. It purifies the fasting person from any shortcomings during Ramadan and ensures that poorer members of the community can also participate in the celebrations. Zakat al-Fitr is required for every Muslim who has enough food for themselves and their dependents, and it must be paid on behalf of each member of the household, including children. In many western countries today, it is commonly calculated as $15 per person, which means a family of four would pay $60 in total. The charity should be given before the Eid prayer so it can reach those in need in time, and it is typically distributed to eligible recipients such as the poor and the needy. By fulfilling Zakat al-Fitr, Muslims practice generosity, strengthen community bonds, and complete the month of Ramadan with an act of compassion and gratitude.
Zakat-ul-Mal:
Zakat al-Mal is one of the central pillars of Islam and represents a mandatory form of charity that purifies a Muslim’s wealth and supports those in need. It is an annual obligation for Muslims whose savings and assets meet the required threshold (known as nisab), and it is typically calculated as 2.5% of eligible wealth that has been held for one lunar year. Zakat al-Mal applies to assets such as savings, gold, silver, investments, and business profits, after subtracting immediate debts. The funds are distributed to specific groups mentioned in the Qur’an, including the poor, the needy, those in debt, and others who qualify for assistance. By giving Zakat al-Mal, Muslims acknowledge that wealth is a trust from Allah and help reduce inequality within the community. This act of charity strengthens social responsibility, promotes compassion, and ensures that resources circulate to support those who are most vulnerable.
