In the village of Ma’batli in rural Afrin, the suffering of the residents, both financially and psychologically, was immense. The young child Omar, aged one and a half, born during displacement and evacuation from Maarat al-Numan, and like many families struggling to make ends meet, fell ill. There were no resources to take the child to a clinic. He suffered from a high fever, and after some time, his condition worsened to the point where he couldn’t move his upper right limb and lower left limb. His family rushed him to a doctor, and after diagnosis, it was revealed that he had heart problems and the high fever had affected his mobility.
After a period of searching for a suitable treatment center, one of the child’s relatives who was being treated at the Sawaasya Center for Prosthetics and Rehabilitation recommended they try the center. They were advised to take advantage of its completely free services
The journey of assessment, physical therapy, and psychological support for the child Omar
After completing the basic procedures at the center, including registering the child’s form and scheduling a doctor’s visit, the child was assessed by the physician, and an appropriate treatment plan was devised. Following several sessions of physical therapy and psychological support, along with monitoring the child’s progress and educating the mother on how to interact with her child, the mother’s joy began to show as she witnessed her child standing, sitting, and interacting with others. Her happiness was indescribable, and she expressed gratitude to the center’s staff for these observed results.
