“The device wasn’t just metal it was the first bridge between
him and life.”
Health Condition at Birth:
Noor Al-Deen was born with a rare congenital condition affecting the spinal cord and nervous system.
In the early days after birth, doctors predicted he would not survive more than a few days. The child underwent two surgeries before the age of two months, and a third one six months later. According to neurologists, the child was only expected to live for two years due to multiple congenital malformations affecting the nervous and motor systems
Family Response:
Despite the hardship, Noor Al-Deen’s family showed immense strength and chose to continue his care. They refused to give up or surrender. They faced a long and challenging journey, during which they received support from various associations and institutions. Eventually, they were referred to the Sawasieh Center for Prosthetics and Mobility Assistance
Difficulties and Challenges:
The family encountered many difficulties, most notably the lack of adequate medical devices and high costs. Specialists recommended the use of custom orthotic devices. The parents insisted on trying all possible options, determined to give their son a better chance at life.
Purpose of the Device:
To control the full joints of the knees, hips, and part of the spine.
Therapeutic Objective:
This type of device is used for cases suffering from lower limb paralysis, as well as curvature of the spine and weakening of trunk muscles.
Intervention at Sawasieh Center:
When Noor Al-Deen arrived at Sawasieh Center, a thorough case study was conducted by the medical team. Based on the evaluation, a specialized device was provided: a full lower-limb orthosis with trunk support.
Outcome and Family Gratitude:
Noor Al-Deen demonstrated great improvement in movement, gaining independence and the ability to stand with the device. His condition improved notably, both physically and psychologically. The family expressed deep gratitude to the center and the supervising specialist, Mr. Ahmad, for their cooperation and care.
A heartfelt thanks to the supporting donor for their generous contribution, which helped illuminate the life of Noor Al-Deen and his family.
